Free tickets can now be booked to view House of Doors, on display in Westminster Hall between 8 November and 3 December 2018.
2018 marks a series of milestones in the fight for democratic equality. The centenary of the Representation of the People Act which first allowed select women to vote, and the Parliament (Qualification of Women) Act, which first permitted women to stand for election.
The placement of House of Doors in Westminster Hall marks the centenary of the Parliament (Qualification of Women) Act, which, on 21 November 1918, allowed women to stand for Parliament. Visitors are invited to consider how access to public life has changed since 1918, with particular emphasis on the spaces and roles that were closed to women and that have since opened up.
